Napa Valley Genealogical Society

formerly known as the Napa Valley Genealogical and Biographical Society

The Napa Valley Genealogical Society offers its members and the public a means for learning about ancestral heritage and homeland history. The Articles of Incorporation as a nonprofit organization were adopted in June 1975 and updated in January 2013.

                        NVGS Bylaws               NVGS Standing Rules

The society is operated under the direction of an annually elected board. All functions of the organization are carried out by volunteers, without assistance from paid employees.

Beginner instructional classes and seminars are held throughout the year with individual assistance always available.

A bi-monthly newsletter, THE WINE PRESS, informs the membership of society activities, meetings, seminars, lists of new donations and acquisitions, research tips and advice, as well as free queries.

The society will issue Pioneer Certificates to direct descendants of early settlers. Many of these pioneers have gone unnoticed in our history. This is a way to gather information about them. In addition to receiving a pioneer certificate, successful applicants will be helping to preserve the history of our county.

Meetings are held each month at the NVGS Library, 1701 Menlo Ave., Napa. A short business meeting is followed by a program which includes a speaker who will discuss a genealogical topic. Guests are welcome.
